The 2024 Get There Car Free Challenge is designed to encourage Oregonians to give up driving alone the week of Sept. 16-22. The final day, September 22, is World Car Free Day! The Car Free Challenge will observe this international day specifically created to raise awareness about the benefits of using commute options to reduce the number of people driving alone. Participants will be entered into a drawing for exciting prizes when they take a pledge and log trips taken by transit, walking, biking, scooter, carpooling, and Vanpooling!

The Car Free Challenge is an opportunity for you to experience the benefits of living car free—that includes, reduced air pollution and getting to experience walking and biking around your community. The World Car Free Network suggests that World Car-Free Day demonstrates how cities would look, feel, and sound with less cars on the roads.

When you take a pledge and log trips, you will have the change to win exciting prizes, including; $100 Clever Cycles gift cards with a branded water bottle, $25 Café Yumm gift cards and candy from Jacobsen Salt Co, $100 Give and Get Local gift cards to a local business of your choice, $100 gift cards to a grocery store of your choice!

A key goal for the World Car Free Day is to bring attention to the extensive air pollution that is emitted because of cars. They also aim to teach drivers the importance of sharing the road with those that are not in cars, and to promote the value of clean air.
