Job Title: Transportation Options Coordinator
Rate of Pay: Full Time, pay starting at $25-27/hour, based on experience and qualifications.
Work Location: Bend, OR – Hybrid, remote, and in field work.
Work Schedule: M-F, 8:00 am – 5:00 pm (with flexibility)
About Commute Options: Commute Options is a 501c3 nonprofit organization based in Bend, Oregon. We are dedicated to innovative transportation options that connect people of all ages to the places they go – employees to their workplaces, students to their schools, and neighbors within their communities. We champion active transportation and infrastructure improvements, fostering essential partnerships, and educating the community on transportation options. Our mission is to increase access to transportation options across Oregon.
Job Overview:
The Transportation Options (TO) Coordinator will help reduce single-occupancy vehicle (SOV) use in the Central and Eastern Oregon regions by leading outreach and education to employers, employees, and local communities. The role includes managing the Get There network, promoting sustainable travel options like carpooling, biking, transit, and remote work, and working with key stakeholders to improve transportation choices across the region. The position requires limited travel across the region.
This position is vital to our work ensuring our programs are inclusive, culturally competent, and address intersectional disparities in getting from here to there, in order to enhance equity in transportation access. Key Responsibilities:
- Employee Commute Options (ECO) Outreach:
- Lead outreach campaigns for employers in Oregon Department of Transportation’s Regions 4 and 5 to reduce SOV commuting.
- Promote travel options such as biking, walking, carpooling, vanpooling, transit, and telecommuting.
- Work with companies to integrate transportation options into their policies.
- Engage with locations like concert venues and medical centers to reduce SOV trips.
- Help connect employees and visitors to sustainable travel options using platforms like Get There Connect.
- Get There Network Management:
- Manage the regional Get There Rewards, including carpool matching and trip planning tools.
- Support users of Get There Rewards and help organize outreach events to increase platform engagement.
- Employer Engagement and Database Management:
- Use Salesforce to track employer contacts, outreach efforts, and program progress.
- Follow up regularly with employers to ensure continued participation in commute programs.
- Coordination with Transportation Groups:
- Advocate for transportation options at local, regional, and statewide levels.
- Join transportation working groups and committees to stay informed and collaborate.
- Construction Mitigation Outreach:
- Develop outreach strategies for Oregon Department of Transportation (ODOT) and other construction projects to reduce congestion and promote active transportation.
- Diversity, Equity, Inclusion (DEI):
- Support DEI principles in all Commute Options programs.
- Focus on improving transportation access for underserved and rural communities.
- Special Projects and Studies:
- Lead initiatives like shared mobility studies and community mobility needs assessments.
- Support programs like the E-Bike rebate program as assigned.
- Reporting:
- Prepare paperwork, maintain records and submit monthly reports.
Minimum Qualifications
- Must embrace the mission of Commute Options and demonstrate a commitment to promoting safe, accessible, and equitable transportation options.
- Maintains professional conduct in all interactions with community members, partners, and colleagues.
- Must be able to communicate effectively with others, including writing and speaking.
- Experience in presenting or public speaking.
- Organized with a demonstrated ability to follow through on tasks and goals, such as planning events and reporting on program outcomes.
- Possess the skills to work collaboratively within a diverse team environment and participate with a focus on collaboration.
- Employment is contingent upon verification of eligibility to work in the United States as required by federal law.
Preferred Qualifications
- Knowledge of transportation industry principles and laws.
- Experience in community outreach, particularly with diverse and marginalized communities.
- Demonstrated cultural competency and the ability to engage effectively with diverse cultural backgrounds.
- Proven skills in building rapport and relationships across different communities.
- Ability to foster safe, inclusive, supportive, and collaborative environments for individuals from diverse backgrounds and abilities.
- Commitment to providing equitable transportation options and understanding systemic barriers to mobility.
- Effective interpersonal and communication skills using trauma-informed language and practices in interactions with community members and colleagues.
- Demonstrated expertise and a strong commitment to apply racial equity and social justice practices in all aspects of program support and community engagement.
- Fluency in two or more languages.
- Experience using Salesforce to track program engagement and customer relationships.

Travel Requirements
- Must have a reliable means of transportation. This role is responsible for transporting materials and equipment (including shade canopy & table) to events throughout Central and Eastern Oregon.
